Virtual USD card in Ethiopia: requirements, costs and safe use

A virtual card is a payment card accessed digitally rather than as plastic. DinkCard helps eligible customers request supported virtual USD cards through third-party card infrastructure. Approval and merchant acceptance are never automatic.

Before you request a card

Create an account using your own details, verify your email, and complete the identity and card-profile checks required by the service. The provider may ask for accurate identity documents, a matching legal name and further verification. Incomplete or inconsistent details can delay or prevent a request.

Check the card-creation charge and any initial-funding requirement on the request screen. Account service credit is separate from money loaded to an actual card. A card request is not the same thing as a funded, usable card.

How funding and spending work

After a card is active and eligible, you can review the funding amount and applicable fees before confirming a transfer of eligible account credit. Use the card's actual available balance when deciding how much you can spend; don't assume that your DinkCard account credit is already on the card.

At checkout, enter the card number, expiration and security details only on a trusted merchant page. Use the billing address displayed for the card in your account. A made-up address can cause authorization to fail, and sharing full card information with strangers is unsafe.

Why international purchases are sometimes declined

A Visa logo does not mean every merchant accepts every card. Recurring billing rules, card funding, international transaction controls, merchant region restrictions, verification checks and card-provider decisions can all affect authorization.

If payment fails, confirm your balance, billing address and merchant terms first. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same charge. Open a support request with a safe transaction reference, merchant and amount; never send your CVV, PIN or full card number.

Fees, controls and support

Creation, funding and some card operations may carry provider or DinkCard fees. Current charges are shown before you authorize the applicable action; do not rely on a fixed fee quoted in a social-media message. See the fee disclosure and your live confirmation screen.

Where supported by the provider, you can freeze an eligible card and review transactions from your account. If a charge looks unfamiliar, use the account's card controls and support channels promptly.

Frequently asked questions

Is a virtual card a bank account?

No. A virtual card is a payment instrument subject to the third-party provider's terms. DinkCard is not a bank or the direct card issuer.

Can I use it with every subscription?

No. Acceptance depends on the merchant, card provider and transaction. Check merchant billing requirements before funding.

Do I need to add money twice?

Account credit and card balance are different. Adding credit to DinkCard does not automatically fund a virtual card.

Where do I find my billing address?

Open your own card's supported details in the account. Do not substitute a random country or address.

Can I get a refund after card creation?

Refund eligibility depends on the completed operation and applicable terms. Read the refund policy before confirming a non-reversible service.
